Responsibilities:
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and treatment areas to uphold the highest standards of hygiene and safety.
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both pets and staff.
- Handle animals of various sizes and temperaments with patience and confidence, including dogs, cats, and equines when applicable.
- Support veterinary technicians with tasks such as medication administration, IV insertions, catheterizations, and laboratory sample collection.
- Aid in pet care activities, including feeding, grooming, walking, and monitoring behavior to promote well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of animal treatments, medications administered, and daily observations in compliance with clinic protocols.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately to ensure safety during all animal handling and cleaning procedures.
Requirements:
- Prior kennel experience or background in animal husbandry preferred; experience with veterinary clinics is a plus.
- Experience with animal restraint techniques and handling dogs confidently and safely.
- Ability to perform laboratory tasks such as sample collection or processing when needed.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary staff and clients.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to veterinary critical care, surgery support, or specialized animal handling, such as equine experience.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
